Ashwagandha Root

Ashwagandha Root

Thyroid Miracle Worker!

I came across ashwagandha root in my many studies on getting better from brain fog and anxiety and ended up learning about its positive influence on the thyroid. I cannot believe how much healing power is in this root that grows in India, the Middle East, and Africa. It is also referred to as "Indian ginseng" and is known to treat multiple ailments such as arthritis, anxiety, insomnia, tumors, asthma, backache, fibromyalgia, and menstrual problems just to name a few. However, my focus for this blog is on the healing power it has for healthy thyroid function.

According to Dr. Axe, who is a certified doctor of natural medicine:

"One of the most incredible aspects of adaptogenic herbs like ashwagandha is that they can help people with both under-active and overactive thyroid problems.  Ashwagandha has been shown to support a sluggish thyroid for people diagnosed with Hashimoto's disease, and has been shown to improve the health of those with an overactive thyroid, or Graves' Disease, although the research on the herb’s effects on hyperthyroidism is limited. For the millions of people who are struggling with thyroid problems, many of whom don’t even know it, ashwagandha may serve as the solution they’ve been waiting for." Although I still have graves' disease, I want to note that I no longer have a thyroid (it was removed with radioactive iodine) and a major part of the shift of being severely hyperthyroid is feeling the effects of going severely hypothyroid.

I started taking ashwagandha in May 2018 and was on it for about three weeks before I went to see my endocrinologist for my 30-day check up and my results were so great even my doctor was surprised! I also felt so much better overall and truly believe my results were greatly impacted due to this miracle working herb. For the many health benefits that is has, it is quite surprising that it is not well known. I am almost at two months since incorporating this supplement into my diet and I have not felt better. I feel like a new person and am a believer as to what this herb can do for your body. I hope you will take some time to research this for yourself and see if this is something that can work for you. The best way for my body to absorb this has been through liquid form and I am a huge fan of the gaia Herbs brand.

My new name for this is ashWAKANDA! Here's to a healthier you!
